SCHOOL IS A SCAM

You've probably heard this before:

"First class doesn't matter. Na dropout sef dey make am."

Have you ever wondered why you rarely hear successful people preaching that school is unnecessary?

Yes, Mark Zuckerberg is a college dropout. But did he ever tell people not to go to school?

Let's think about it.

What's the difference between two people doing the same job when one has received formal education or professional training?

Education doesn't automatically make one more talented than the other, but it equips people with knowledge, broadens their perspective, and creates opportunities. The same applies to someone who repairs cars. With formal education, that person could become a mechanical engineer, equipped to design, innovate, and solve problems on a larger scale.

Imagine any successful company with no accountants, no engineers, no lawyers, no marketers, no technicians, and no trained professionals.

Even the world's most successful entrepreneurs rely on educated and skilled people to build and sustain their businesses.

If school were truly a scam, qualifications wouldn't matter. Walk into any organization with nothing but your guts and confidence, and walk out with a job.

Now, don't get me wrong. I understand that a certificate isn't everything. What truly matters is the knowledge, discipline, skills, and experience you gain while you're in school.

That's why people say, "Don't just pass through school; let school pass through you."

As a Mass Communication graduate, my value isn't just the B.Sc. degree I hold. It also lies in the training, practicals, knowledge, and experience I gained while I was in school. The certificate is simply proof that I received that education; it isn't the education itself.

A certificate is evidence.

Education is what stays with you.

Yes, there are graduates who are unemployed. Yes, there are successful people who never finished school. But those are exceptions, not proof that education is worthless.

So yes, build your skills. Learn a trade. Start a business. Innovate. But if you're privileged to have access to education, embrace it.

A certificate may open the door, but education prepares you for what happens after you walk through it.

Don't let anyone fool you.
